REO Speedwagon brought their 2023 summer tour through Youngstown, OH on Wednesday night! The highly anticipated tour brought the Youngstown Amphitheater their first SOLD OUT concert of the 2023 summer season and it did not disappoint!
To give a sense of the atmosphere prior to bands taking the stage, we witnessed concert goers rush to the front of the lawn gates the second the gates opened! What makes this ordinary sounding scenario so special is the notation that REO Speedwagon formed as a band in 1967 and the average age of their fan base lies in the range of their mid to late 50s. Witnessing the fans from that generation in 2023 rushing the barricades of a concert is enough to show that rock is not dead and no matter your age, you’re never too old to feel youthful and enjoy life to the fullest!
Before the night’s headliner took the stage, the band’s lead singer, Kevin Cronin, came out to address the crowd on the condition of the opener, Donnie Iris, as he was replaced on the night’s bill due to a medical emergency.
Following the event’s new opening band, Levon, REO Speedwagon hit the stage to give the sold out crowd decades worth of back-to-back hits, with a few lesser-known gems sprinkled in between. The night was definitely one to remember and it’s no secret that these legends will not shy away to returning to Youngstown on their next run!
