Def Leppard is a frequent visitor of Pittsburgh when they tour, averaging a visit to the Steel City almost every two years, but if you were in attendance at The Stadium Tour on Friday night, you would get the feeling that these fans haven’t gotten a glimpse of the English rock band in decades!
Co-headlining this highly anticipated tour with Motley Crue, you could feel the energy of the crowd (who appeared mostly there for Def Leppard) erupting as the band opened up with “Take What You Want” and rocked into a career-spanning 17-song set. Joe Elliot sounded better than ever with his powerful vocals, Phil Collen led the strings while showing his superstar status on the catwalk, and Rick Allen played his legendary custom-built drum kit as perfectly as one could!
Rolling through hits, such as “Animal”, “Armageddon It”, and “Rocket”, the guys kept the crowd on their feet and singing along all afternoon. Just when you thought the sing-along couldn’t grow any louder, Def Leppard broke out “Bringin’ On The Heartbreak”. It was this moment that one should have realized that they have never witnessed anything like this before. The power of Elliot’s voice, mixed with the voices of thousands, during the performance of this record-breaking hit was strong enough to give anyone in the surrounding area body chills that you could never imagine.
Def Leppard ended their set with “Photograph’, as images from the bands history played on the screens behind them, leaving nothing but black and white images of the five members. The song ended and the powerhouse all came down to the end of the catwalk to wish the fans well until next time.
You can see Def Leppard on The Stadium Tour as it continues on before wrapping up in September at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, NV! As always, be sure to keep an eye on our Instagram page for the setlist and more photos from the nights event!
